Rating: PG

Summary: Jin is on a job hunting when he finds himself stranded at a strange ghost town. He gets creeped out and starts to leave but then something catches his attention. Somehow, in some twisted way, Jin is instantly tied to the creature that he meets on his job hunt--he finds himself going back and trying to help because his conscience eats away at him. The most disturbing part however...what Jin meets is not of the living. Even more frightening is the story of its haunting past.

It was a bleak, gray-skied autumn afternoon, if one could call it afternoon—for the weather was so eerily chilly and mind-numbingly cold it might as well have been evening. Jin sighed. When was I taken from my warm bed and plopped into this mess? The whole atmosphere reminded him of Claude Monet's paintings—one that was probably from his emo time period too. The sky was a sickening gray and everything was blurry and desolate, uninviting—the unnatural energy seemed to be focused especially where Jin was walking.
He shivered and looked around, paranoia surrounding him like a blanket and visible on his features. The surroundings reminded him of his darkest nightmares being twisted into frightening reality. He wrapped his arms around his torso and draped his red striped scarf around his neck a few more times, tightening its hold on his neck—another shiver crawled uncannily up his spine. Everything was gray. Gray, gray, gray, and gray. Jin cursed under his breath as he continued walking faster, trying to find his way out of the endless pathway—the endless road with rows and rows of desolate, abandoned buildings, crumbling down to nearly nothing but darkness and emptiness.
The long corridors stretched out as far as the eye could see and all Jin saw was darkness. Occasionally a drip of water would fall and break the dark silence, and just minutes earlier, Jin swore he heard faint footsteps echoing as if someone was running towards him. But of course, there was no one. The memory caused the hairs on his neck raise and goosebumps form on both of his arms. Clutching the small white business card tightly as if it were his life, he ventured further and further away from the parking lot—away from his car, and away from the only object around his isolated realm that was anything near civilization.

Jin reread it over again for what seemed like the hundredth time and he glanced around worriedly, the number of the buildings nowhere near what he was looking for. He could have sworn that when he first parked the car that the numbers matched. The further he ventured, however, the more the numbers differed. I should probably go back now…I doubt that it's anywhere near around here anyways…Jin decided conclusively as he turned around started to walk back—he had a long way to go.
He contemplated running because every second he was there it only got creepier and creepier and even more goosebumps found their way into his neck. The only things he could hear were his own footsteps—they echoed back at him with every step he took, ringing in his ears in a loud, pulsing rhythm, and he was sick of it.
After walking briskly as the wind whipped fiercely at his face, Jin stopped dead in his tracks. He could have sworn that he just heard a whisper—the words which were unidentifiable but he knew he heard something. He turned around slowly; it was like a scene in a horror movie where the victim turns around and BAM there's a big, bloody, freaky looking demon behind them.
He nearly jumped out of his skin when he caught a glimpse of what was making the noise and backed up in the direction where his car was. His steps were crooked and clumsy, and his face contorted with such terror and fright that it probably could have been a scene from a horror movie.
At least there was something less eerie, despite the fact that where the thing had come from was unknown, the face was hauntingly beautiful and resembled a human male—Jin was almost sure of it. His – or was it her? – complexion was so pale that Jin thought it was white makeup at first. But it looked way too natural to be makeup. The eyes were unforgettable, an intense mix of grayish silver and almond hazel fragments; they held a gaze that pierced through Jin's heart and made him cringe.
Despite the fact that the being was impeccably beautiful and bore a resemblance to male features, he/she was wearing an old, aged worn-out wedding dress, the trimmings brown and ancient. Its once bright and impressive jewels and pearls had become dull and dead—it was almost antique, Jin decided—his mind interrupted to note that it was way beyond creepy to be walking around in a rotting alleyway wearing an antiquated wedding dress during the 21st century…
The human, or so Jin had decided, stared at him unwaveringly, an unreadable expression on their face. But the eyes flashed with what Jin interpreted as shock. Shouldn't I be the one shocked when you suddenly show up behind me wearing a freakin century old wedding dress? Jin wanted to say, but he could not bring himself to do so.
Instead, he slowly and carefully drew out each of his words when he spoke, as if he were afraid the other wouldn't understand, "What. Are. You. Doing. Here?" His gaze locked with the deep eyes; he was still not getting used to the other's flawless face— it threw him off guard because he wasn’t accustomed to being around such exquisite beauty.
Jin caught something then, the other's face was completely void of emotions but the eyes were filled up with so many different sentiments it almost broke Jin's heart. They were filled with grief and agony, pain and muffled anguish; Jin saw distress contorting every visible speck of the other's eyes. He suddenly found himself wanting to reach out to the other, wanted to help so badly, wanted to wrap his arms around…Oh my god, what am I thinking?
As soon as the words spilled out of Jin's mouth, the other let out an audible gasp and those breathtaking eyes danced with surprise and intense flashes of fear. Suddenly, the being twirled around and sprinted away and Jin stared after the retreating flowing wedding dress, as he called out desperately, "Wait! I want to help you—!"
His next word was stuck on his tongue as he watched the bride slow down to a trot and stopped, suddenly turning and vanishing right into…a wall. A complete and utter feeling of dread grabbed at him from behind. His mind stopped thinking and silently it screamed things that made no sense, GO!! LEAVE!! RUN AWAY NOW! YOU DID NOT JUST SEE A…A…GHOST?! A GHOST! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!!!!!
Jin doubted he could have screamed, had he opened his mouth. All he could do was gape at the spot in the wall where the figure had walked into. He couldn't believe his eyes; he didn't want to. I must have been dreaming, hallucinating, something! I did not just see that thing go straight into a wall. I didn't. I could not have. No, no…that's not possible for humans…but perhaps…it was nothing of this Earth…
His legs wouldn't budge and he wanted to run, to escape from that deadly place and put it all behind him. He wanted to dash straight for his car and never come back to that ghost town…literally. But his brain did not- would not- function; his voice box did not work; and his legs were definitely not doing anything productive. He shut his eyes and tried to focus all thoughts out of his head, I was just hallucinating, hallucination, I had way too many beers, way too much alcohol last night…
Jin shivered involuntarily; goosebumps and fright pricked its way all over Jin's body and he wanted to scratch it all off because he was scaring himself shitless. Finally, finally, Jin's legs reacted and in a matter of seconds, he had spun a one-eighty and he was running for his dear life; he barely felt the rush of the bitter cold wind against his scalp as he sprinted towards his car; he never looked back to check if the figure was there, never stopped running.

"Please, please will you do this for me?" begged the sister as she gazed up at her brother, her eyes wet and filled with so much sorrow that it almost broke his heart. He reached out to stroke his weeping sister's hair, his heart filling with pain and sympathy, for her, he'd do anything; she was the most important person in his life. "Get up, Ai, of course I'll do it—anything for your happiness…I cannot believe mom and dad are forcing you to marry that bastard…"
Her face lit up with happiness, "Really? You'll do it? I promise it will only be for today, and when they've found out that I've eloped with the man I love, I'm sure they'll leave you alone…you should remember, brother, that those demons are not our parents, they just merely want to marry us off to some rich bastards to get money, we don't mean anything to them—they look at us like we're objects," her tone was bitter and angry tears were streaming down her cheeks. The younger boy brought his hand to her face, quickly wiping away the fallen teardrops and whispered in a hushed tone, "Shh…I know, Ai, now go, before they catch you…remember to call me when you get somewhere safer…I'll be waiting…"
She nodded and clutched her brother's hand tightly as she looked at him with broken eyes, "Thank you so much…I owe you…here's the dress and the veil…I love you…Take care and don't get caught too quickly."
He fingered the white, pearly wedding dress and sent her a look that said "I love you too" and with a final wave, she was gone, "Be careful! Don't forget to call…" he hollered as the scurried out the window. A last, heartbreaking glance was exchanged between them as she disappeared from sight, possibly forever. The boy let his heart drop to his stomach as he slipped into the soft, billowy material of the dress, thinking to himself, Goodbye, sis…Goodbye.
Anger clutched his heart and rage fluttered inside of him; he would get his revenge on those wretched people he called parents…Here comes one hell of an angry bride. He thought to himself as he gathered up the mile long wedding dress and stomped out of the room, the veil brushing annoyingly at his face.

Three days later, the weeping, sobbing sister received the news that her brother had died in a freak accident, a deadly car crash where the remains and bodies were nowhere to be found. It was believed to have been a staged accident, probably by someone he knew.
And the sister knew, Ai knew. She knew who killed her brother. And she was going to get revenge; no matter what it took, she would bring justice upon his death.
Unfortunately, the sister died of grief only three weeks later.

Images and flashes of the bride in the ancient dress haunted Jin; the recurring dreams were the worst. Some nights, he'd wake up screaming. And every time he did, he was left with the image of the hauntingly beautiful face, the intense, emotional eyes, and Jin would be filled with the want to help the other. Those eyes, the eyes were what haunted him the most-- their emotional sadness and overwhelming sorrow. It that cut so deep it ached his heart just to look at it, much less recall it.
One disturbing autumn night, he woke up from sleep, shaken and afraid. He had never been more afraid in his life. But as he sat up, eyes wide with fright and fear clutching at his mind, eating away at everything he was, eating away at his soul, Jin knew something.
He had to do something.
He just had to help. No matter how scared out of his mind he was, he would have to go back and find out what was going on.
With a determined set of mind, he eased back into a cold, sweat-filled, dreamless slumber as the hollow eyes haunted every fiber of his being.
I'm going to fix those broken eyes.
